As it happens with any country you want to move to, Ecuador is not much different and you need some requirements in order to do it.

There a differente kinds of visas, but if you want to be a permanent resident, these are the requirements:

• Permanent Resident Visa – Length of stay

Requirements:

1. Application form for Migratory Movement Certificate (requirement applicable only within the country).
2. Regular immigration status (requirement applicable only within the country).
3. Original and xerox copy of valid and current passport.
4. Ecuadorian criminal record certificates, for temporary residents in Ecuador for two years. For other cases, certificate of criminal record from the country of origin or from the places where you have resided for the last 5 years – apostilled or legalized.
5. Not to be considered a threat to the Ecuadorian State.
6. Accredit the legal means of life that make up the subsistence of the applicant and his dependent family group.
7. Serve at least 21 months as a temporary resident and submit the corresponding application prior to the expiration of the immigration status held.

* As of February 5, 2018 it will be mandatory to present the Health Insurance certificate. * All documentation in a language other than Spanish must be duly translated into Spanish and, in turn, must have the recognition of the translator’s signature before a notary public. * All official documents from abroad must be duly legalized or apostilled The requirements that do not appear in this section will be verified internally by the Foreign Ministry staff.
